Dr. Quinn again named Team Physician for
Boston Cannons
Newton Wellesley Orthopedic Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce
that Dr.
Daniel Quinn has been named Team Physician for the Boston Cannons,
Boston's professional entry in Major League Lacrosse. MLL is a professional
outdoor lacrosse league founded in 2001 featuring 10 teams and 350

Dr. Hanmer Completes Certification in the
Birmingham Hip Resurfacing Procedure:
Dr. Alfred Hanmer is pleased to announce that he is now FDA certified
to perform the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing procedure. This method
of treatment is specifically targeted for active patients who have
arthritis and are looking for a bone sparing treatment.
This hip procedure is designed for younger, active
patients suffering from arthritis which allows them to return to
their activities and athletics. This bone sparing procedure "caps"
the ends of the bones rather than replacing them.
Dr. Hanmer Completes
Advanced Training in Hip Arthroscopy:
In addition, Dr. Hanmer recently completed advanced training in
Hip Arthroscopy, studying with Dr. Thomas Byrd, one of the pre-eminent
hip arthroscopists in the world. Using new techniques, Dr. Hanmer
now provides treatment to patients with hip related problems who
seek minimally invasive surgical solutions. Dr. Hanmer has specialized
in arthroscopy for almost 20 years and has added hip arthroscopy
due to patient demand. This technique adds a minimally invasive
treatment option to patients with hip pain.
Dr.
Snyder Performs New Athrosurface Technique:
Dr.
Daniel Snyder has become one of the leading clincians in the country
performing Athrosurface for shoulders, a new technique, which re-surfaces
arthritic shoulders. He is also performing resurfacting for hips,
a new and exciting procedure for young, athletic patients with hip
arthritis. In addition, a new small incision technique is available
for total knee replacement which has made post-operative pain much
less, and recovery quicker.
Newton
Wellesley Orthopedic Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce that
we now have a state of the art on-site Hologic Discovery QDR series
bone densitometry machine:
This osteoporosis assessment machine provides 10 second, low dose
x-ray scan of the spine. Up to one quarter of women over the age
of 50 have at least one vertebral fracture - the majority of which
remain undetected as they produce no symptoms such as pain.
NWOA
is now able to provide a bone density assessment for you in our
office. Please speak to your PCP or your Orthopedic Surgeon if you
wish to undergo this comprehensive, non-invasive and convenient
assessment.
Dr.
Kenneth D. Polivy, FACS has earned certification in Bone Density
Testing for Osteoporosis:
The International Society for Clinical Densitometry has
announced that Dr. Polivy attended the ISCD's Bone Densitometry
Course and has been recognized as a certified Clinical Densitometrist...
To earn this credential, Dr. Polivy passed a rigorous exam on bone
density testing for osteoporosis. There are over 5,000 certified
clinicians and technologists worldwide. Certification in bone densitometry
is a demonstration of proficiency and is a requirement for some
insurance companies and HMOs.
Snyder
completes new arthroscopic course:
Dr. Snyder recently completed an intensive training program in Chicago
on arthroscopic and minimally invasive surgery of the hip. Dr. Snyder
is one of a select few Orthopedic Surgeons in Massachusetts trained
to perform these new techniques. His patients experience decreased
surgical exposure and rehabilitation time resulting in returning
them back to their full activities more quickly than patients undergoing
traditional surgery.
Voted
one of Boston Magazine's 2003 "Top Doctors in Boston for Orthopedic
Surgery," Dr. Snyder is also one of the leading surgeons in
the field of arthrosurface technique. This minimally invasive technique
restores articular surfaces of the shoulder, hip and knee.
