On Tuesday, March 24 Dr. Bruce Leslie performed his 500th distal biceps tendon repair. Distal biceps tendon ruptures are an uncommon but increasingly recognized injury of the elbow. Dr. Leslie and the late Dr. Arthur Thibodeau refined this surgical technique and it was first performed by Dr. Leslie at Tufts Medical Center (at that time the New England Medical Center) in 1986. To date, no surgeon worldwide has performed as many such surgeries. The event was celebrated at the Newton-Wellesley Hospital Outpatient Surgery Center last week.
