Evan Schumer, M.D. has been voted one of Boston’s top doctors. Dr. Schumer is one of three orthopedic surgeons at Newton-Wellesley Hospital to have been awarded the honor this year. Rankings are determined annually by peer nominations from other physicians.
On Tuesday, March 24 Dr. Bruce Leslie performed his 500th distal biceps tendon repair. Distal biceps tendon ruptures are an uncommon but increasingly recognized injury of the elbow. Dr. Leslie and the late Dr. Arthur Thibodeau refined this surgical technique and it was first performed by Dr. Leslie at Tufts Medical Center (at that time the New England Medical Center) in 1986.
Dr. Kenneth Polivy has been named to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) Board of Councilors. Congratulations Dr. Polivy! He will be serving as an advisor on relations between the AAOS and state/regional orthopaedic societies. Learn more about AAOS on their website.
Dr. Bruce Leslie recently returned from the 2014 AAOS National Orthopaedic Leadership Conference (NOLC) where he met with lawmakers on Capitol Hill to discuss the SGR fix and other issues affecting Medicare patients. Dr. Leslie continues to serve as Chair of the Government Affairs Committee of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
